…the birth of our baby boy – Aidan Gupta (his full name is Aidan Taylor Aulick Gupta) on March 16.  And, therefore, you may not hear from me for a while.  Or….I may be posting more frequently as I am up in the middle of the night rocking this kid back to sleep with my computer on my lap.

FYI -  we chose Aidan both because we thought it was a nice-sounding name and in honor of Aidan of Lindisfarne; thus, he will ever remind us of our wonderful years here in the northeast of England.  For more on the Irish monk whom Bishop Lightfoot named ‘the Apostle of the English’ see (of course) the wikipedia entry HERE.

    Nijay,

Blessings and congrats to you and your wife.

No doubt soon you’ll be doing what I’m doing (sitting awake at 4.00 a.m. in the morning trying to get him to sleep while you’re surfing the internet to keep awake).

Enjoy the journey buddy (and feel free to visit me sometime in the far north).

  5. Congratulations! Enjoy the precious first few weeks and take som time off!

    Blessings,

    David & Jessica

Congrats Nijay and fam! I love the name Aidan, although Ethelfrid (former king of Northumbria) would have been a solid choice too:)

  9. Congrats man! Your life just got so much more meaningful—enjoy it!

  10. Mike Gorman says:

Congratulations, Nijay. Don’t fret about being up all night; it’s not forever. In 25 years or so you’ll be a grandparent and you’ll be able to go to sleep while someone else is up. :-)

  11. Nijay,

Congrats my friend. Faith and I wish you and yours the very best!

  12. John says:

    Big congrats! Welcome on board!

  13. Congrats!

Speaking from experience, there is nothing better than doing Ph.D. work and having a kiddo. You can get academically beat up all day, come home and see how excited they are to see you — and everything becomes perfect.

    Enjoy!

  14. Andy Rowell says:

Congrats–we have 3 and 1 year old boys and are happy. He’ll be sleeping 6 hours or so 8-10 weeks and life will become more humane again.
