Yes, you read it correctly. I am stunned, but also excited at the prospect of Bishop N.T. Wright having his full attention devoted to teaching and research. Imagine what this will do for St. Andrews!
Folks, if you were ever considering studying in the UK…well, now you will have the opportunity to sit in classes and learn from this theological giant.
See the announcement here.
*Moves St Andrews to the top of the list*
I wonder how many classes he will actually have. I’m guessing his title of “Research Professor” says a lot about how his time will be spent.
Chris – very true. At Durham, while he was not on staff officially, he taught a course at Cranmer Hall (an anglican ordination training school affiliated with Univ of Durham) called ‘The Bible in Tomorrow’s World’. I could see him doing something similar – to a large lecture-hall crowd, I might presume!
Or, since he is writing the ICC commentary on Philippians, I could see him regularly offering a course on this epistle, to think out loud with students. Maybe not.
I’m not sure, but I think he’ll mostly just be supervising postgrads, other than his own research.
I heard it here first. Wow, this is a big deal. What do you think it will do to admissions at St Andrews?
I don’t know what it will do to admissions but it’s gonna sink the par.
