Thanks for your site; keep blogging, I look everyday for new insight you provide on beginning a doctoral program. I myself am headed to Durham in the Fall to begin a Ph.D under Barclay.

Also, do you use ‘google book search’ much? (http://books.google.com/) I am new to it, but it seems to work better than amazon’s search capability.

thanks. We look forward to having you here next year! As for Google, it has its ups and downs. In Amazon, when you preview a page, you are guaranteed access to the page before and after. In Google, they might cut you off from the next page. Also, in Amazon you can search the page number you want. In Google, it seems to me that less books can be searched by page number.

For more on Google, see my new entry on ‘Tyndale House’.

Thanks for the information on book reviews. I like this idea because it keeps you abreast of new books and scholarly journal articles in your field of interest. How did you establish yourself as a reviewer? Did you contact specific publishers? What person and/or department at the various publishers would select book reviewers? Are you usually able to keep the books/articles that you review?

Thanks for sharing your insights and pointers on writing effective book reviews!

Hi Nijay,

Glad you made it back here from SBL all right.

Thanks for the online book list. Great resource. Do you have an updated list of Amazon-readable books by any chance? Thanks and hope to see you Sunday night.

Robert

Is this a glitch? Or do they mean to have all of this material available for free?

Hi there, Nijay,
I am really enjoying your blog (I recently discovered it). Thanks so much for your work.
